Meet the Doctor

Assembly Line Worker to Doctor

As the Cheshire cat said to Alice, if you don`t know where your going (in life) it doesn`t matter what road you take. My first job, while a sophomore in high school, was pumping gas, washing cars and light mechanical work. This taught me punctuality and not to be afraid to tackle new jobs. (It can get old washing cars.) After graduation I went to work at General Motors as an assembly line worker, putting the same part on every car 107 times every hour. This taught me perseverance and the fact that this was not a career for me but merely a way to get where I wanted to go. After a year and a half, I took a leave of absence to attend college where I got my B.S. degree in Education.

Sometimes life’s problems turn out to be Gods blessings. While playing baseball for the University of Akron, I injured my knee and low back. I could barely walk let alone play ball. The trainer used ice, ultra sound, heat, etc. but nothing helped. On the advice of my roommate’s father and without much faith in his advice I went to a chiropractor. His waiting room was full, but with all different kinds of people, with all different kinds of problems. There were even kids there! Ear infections, asthma, bed-wetting, headaches, cramps, painful arms and hands and yes even several people with sciatica and sore necks. How did all these people with such a wide range of problems end up in this chiropractors office? School taught us to ask questions, so ask I did. My roommates and I became very interested in this thing called chiropractic when after only a few visits I was able to return to playing ball.

Many discussions followed (if you could call it that). Many visits to other chiropractors offices and frank discussions with them lead us to a fork in the road. As Yogi Berra said, "When you come to a fork in the road take it", so we did. After graduation we packed up and moved one thousand miles away from our home to Life College. Four more years in school, working odd jobs, even as a janitor at the school, but I had found a career that I truly do love and live. (Some people have to go to work but I am fortunate in that I get to go.)

School had taught us to find a need and fill it, so off I went to the country. Woodstock and Acworth were truly country then. We had cattle in our front yard and all around our office. Twenty-Five years ago when we first opened here this area was listed as medically deprived. We had the privilege of helping people from all walks of life. Professional baseball players, wrestlers, movie and TV actors, high school and weekend athletes! Women who have been told by specialists they would not ever be able to get pregnant and now have children. But best of all families! Kids, parents and grandparents! We`ve had the honor of serving them all in a competent, loving and dedicated manner since 1980.

We invite you and your families to learn more about chiropractic at our free Health Talks on Mondays at 7:30PM and Wednesdays at 12:30PM.
