what to expect after your first visit!

You have just received your first chiropractic adjustment. If you have not had adjustments before, the release of nerve pressure from the spine, to correct your condition is a completely different approach. With this in mind, I am going to give you information that is not always related to you in the office because of the extent of it.

Some of you after an adjustment, due to to releasing the LIFE FORCE again, may experience a slight flushing. Perhaps even a tingling sensation down the spine and extremities, or such a relaxed feeling, you can hardly wait to lie down and sleep. Please do. You may notice some soreness for a while, usually the same type of soreness you would feel after not having exercised for a while. This is perfectly normal, and is a positive sign the adjustment has begun releasing nerve interference.

General Information to Help Us Help You Better Your Health

* YOUR PILLOW - Best in most cases to be thin. For a more healthy spine try and stay away from thick or more than one pillow.

* YOUR MATTRESS - Should be an EXTRA FIRM MATTRESS. Buy a good quality mattress. We will help you with this decision if you like. 1/3 of your life is spent in bed. You might want to consider a water bed. Many people not only feel they get a better sleep, but also claim that they do not have morning stiffness that they received with a regular mattress.

* NEVER CROSS YOUR LEGS - At the knees. Although most everyone does, it is a bad habit that twists the lower back and spine abnormally. A number of back problems would be eliminated if no one crossed their legs.

* Always bend with your knees and LIFT WITH YOUR LEGS - don't just lean over and lift. Watch bending over the sink or making beds, as this puts all the weight of your body on your lower spine.

* Never let the HEEL OF YOUR SHOES WEAR OUT. This can cause the hip to be tilted causing a curve of the spine and further stress.

* NEVER SLEEP ON YOUR STOMACH - It can twist and tear the ligaments in your neck while you are asleep and force chronic neck problems and therefore, many problems all over the body.

* DRINK at least 6 to 8 large glasses of water a day. This will help your spinal discs as well as aid digestion.

* EXERCISE DAILY - after your condition has improved sufficiently. You may want to start your program with walking. If you need help, just ask us.

* Sit watching TV STRAIGHT AHEAD - not having your head turned to your left or right.

* DO NOT CRADLE TELEPHONE RECEIVER with your neck. Many of you working ladies have a problem with this.

* DO NOT FALL ASLEEP SITTING IN A CHAIR. This causes your neck a lot of discomfort and can cause further problems.

* DO NOT LOOK DOWN - Sewing , reading, studying, etc. for extended periods of time. Give your neck a chance to relax, especially if you are having neck, shoulder or arm problems.
